The Arc of Central Alabama serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families through high-quality programming, advocacy, education, and outreach. We empower each person we serve to reach their fullest potential.

We are seeking a licensed psychologist to join our new Alabama Neurodevelopment Center, which will provide high-quality and efficient diagnostic assessments for autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and related conditions. This is a rare opportunity to build an innovative clinic from the ground up while working with a highly collaborative team that includes psychologists, psychometricians, and psychology interns.

Start Date: Flexible; Fall 2025 preferred
Work Location: Crestwood Neighborhood, Birmingham, AL (with limited travel)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations for autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, and other related conditions across the lifespan
  • Supervise psychometricians and doctoral-level psychology interns
  • Collaborate with families and referral sources to deliver comprehensive diagnostic reports and feedback
  • Contribute to clinic growth through team leadership, program development, and outreach
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement and consultation with community providers
  • Support post-diagnostic care coordination and training for families and staff

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology
  • Licensed or license-eligible as an Alabama Psychologist
  • Experience with neurodevelopmental assessment, including autism and intellectual disability
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of post-license experience
  • Experience supervising interns or early-career professionals
  • Familiarity with the ADOS-2 and cognitive, adaptive, and academic assessments
  • Commitment to culturally responsive assessment and family-centered practices
  • Experience serving Medicaid-eligible or other underserved populations
